TUSC

Hi everyone!  Today was a very exciting day in our class...exciting for Zidane because it's his BIRTHDAY (Happy Birthday again, Zidane!)!  And exciting for the whole class because we had our first TUSC meeting!

TUSC stands for Totally Unique Speaking Club.  Each student has to prepare for a "job" where they have to present on a topic to the class, or take notes (secretary) or evaluate their classmates (general reporter).  Today Kate led our meeting as Chairperson and kept things going well throughout our meeting.

Everyone presented very well and I know I enjoyed everyone's unique presentations!  Way to go room 26!  Here's some photos from our meeting.

Guest Reader

In celebration of I Love to Read Month, I've invited family to come in and read to our class.  On Friday morning, we had the pleasure of meeting Marten Posthumus, a local artist and great-grandfather to one of our classmates.  He has recently had his work published as a book and he came to share his process of art-making and how he started to be published. Art is a fantastic form of literacy and we learned a lot from a very talented artist.

His advice was simple, if you like to draw, keep at it.  He told us he was not that good when he started as a boy but with practice and determination, he became better and better.  His artwork was fantastic and the stories of how they came about were exciting to listen to.  The students were quite fascinated by his talent and had many great questions for him.   We're so grateful he came to share with us!

321 Update By: Mikaela

3-2-1 weekly update: February 2016!J

This week was great!

One thing I learned was how to make a rain stick. It was really easy for me! When I was done I painted it with my best friend Kami. She made a guitar!

Another thing I learned was how to play a game called “Prodigy Math”. It was a bit difficult for me but I still helped my friends/people.

One last thing I learned was how to read our new French poem. It is called “Fevrier”. BTW that means February in French. It was a little hard for me but that’s okay J

One thing I enjoyed was bringing my new book I got from Florida. It is called “Lea leads the way “. Now I have a book to read at read to self. (I just finished reading book # 1) it is called “Lea dives in “.

One last thing I enjoyed was having Drama club. Ms. Oakley runs it. Its really fun to be in. What you do is you act in a Robert Munch book, I am in “Angela’s Airplane.” I am with Kami and Sarah that’s all I know of.

My goal for this week is to read lots.

To reach my goal I will make sure I read lots
