Deer Meadow Farms Reflections

Deer Meadow Farms Field Trip Reflection by Kaitlyn

Something I want to tell my mom and dad about is…that the bunnies looked like Twilight (my cousin’s bunny).
I was most surprised that they made a brace for the goat’s legs.

My top 3 favourite things:
1.  I liked the bunnies because they were soft, cute, fun nice and a lot of things.
2. I like the bull because he was cute and fun. He also liked to cuddle which I liked!
3. I liked all the animals because I like animals!

Something I want to tell the bull, Jimmy, about isthat I had a good time with him.
I was most surprised that bulls were cute.
My top 3 favourite things:
My bull Jimmy was my favourite because he was so cute and cuddly.
2. I thought it was cool that the chickens eat rocks to help form the shell on eggs.
3. Another thing I thought was cool and cute were the bunnies.  They were super soft and small.

All about our IBL research by: Mikaela

IBL Research
These past 10 weeks or so we have been doing some research on regions for the grade 4s and countries for the grade 3s.
Our first/1st step was to fill out a paper with the books to see what region or what country we wanted to do!
Our second/2nd step was to pick what country or region we wanted to research to do so I picked Cuba but no one else picked Cuba.
Our third/3rd step was to do LOTS of research in our books.  We took jot notes and also used Google to find information.
Our fourth/4th step was to write it on a big piece of paper. We did the climate, plants and animals and important places for the grade 3s. I dont know about the grade 4s.
Our fifth/5th step was to type it on the computer. We are also still doing it!
Our sixth/6th and last step is to make our poster and presentation. Thanks for reading my blog post!

3-2-1 May 4-8 By: Carter B.

This week at school was so awesome!
One thing I learned was how to equalize fractions. Please ask more about it.
Another thing I learned from a science demonstrator named Roberto, was that putting someone’s hand in warm water while they sleep will make them pee! I really want to do it to someone!
One last thing I learned is more about acid rain. Acid rain seems pretty badL.
One thing I enjoyed was having a myth busters presentation!
I liked it because we played 2 games!
Another thing I enjoyed was little buddies well… I would have enjoyed it but I had to leave.

My goal for this week is to do that hand in the warm water peeing trick on someone!

Another thing I enjoyed was math games.  I enjoyed this because it was really funny + awesome.
My goal for this week is to finish the series of “Amulet” again.

I will do this by reading all week.

30x30 Nature Challenge

Our class is super excited to participate in the David Suzuki 30x30 Nature Challenge!  The challenge is to spend 30 minutes a day in nature, for 30 days!

David is challenging every individual, workplace, or class to get out into nature.  Did you know that children today spend less time outdoors than any other generation in human history (right from his website)?  Studies show that being in nature increases creativity and problem solving abilities and can reduce stress!

Our class is going to work hard to get out and enjoy nature as much as possible.  Sometimes we'll reflect on our earth and nature during recesses but other times we'll take our learning outside.  What an interesting classroom the outdoors is, with so much to discover!  We'll take time to read, write, draw, think, and investigate outside.

Visit the link http://30x30.davidsuzuki.org/  to learn all about it!

Happy Earth Day!

We've been doing a lot of things to bring awareness to Earth Day over the last couple of weeks.  We've been researching environmental topics, writing Earth Day Haikus (will share some at a later date!) and today we got more hands on...we picked up garbage!

We focused on our school yard and picked up lots of litter that has found its way there.  Great job room 26 and thanks for your enthusiasm!
