Dear mom and dad,

This week at school we went to the computer lab to write our habitat write up. I wrote about the giraffe same with Taylor. She kept asking me questions about the giraffe. Then it was time to go I was almost done but then Ms.Dodds said “come on Leah.”

Today we had a science test. It was fun I hope I have everything right. When I get it back I think everything will be right. Then I got to draw when I was done.  We also had a French test.  We had to ask three French questions to Ms. Dodds and Ms. Dodds said 5 questions for me to answer.

In Math we are learning to tell time.  We are learning to do it on an analog clock.  So far we’re doing pretty well.  Randomly Ms. Dodds will ask us what time it is to see if we know.

To celebrate I Love to Read Month, Friday was "Dress as your favourite book character." A few students in our class participated, check out their great costumes!

This week at school we did our AAA play. Ours was about why the wolf howls at the moon.  There were 4 narrators, 2 sleepy wolves, 3 howling wolves, 1 Orion the hunter, 1 wolf that gets stabbed by Orion’s spear, 1 fox, 4 wolves, 1 happy moose, 1 happy wolf, 1 trickster coyote, and 1 trickster coyote dressed as a wolf. I was a Fox. When we presented I think it went really well! It was really fun to present it to the grade 1’s, 2’s, 3’s, 5’s, 6’s. There plays were really good too.

In gym we did our Fit-a-thon. We were put in groups of 3. I was with Daimin, and Jerrett. We had to run laps for 15 minutes. Every time we ran a lap we had to get a Popsicle stick. We ran 55 laps altogether. It was a lot of running!

In math we did a power builder. In each line there were 8 questions. There were 4 lines. On the first line we got 50 seconds to do it. On the second line we got 40 seconds. On the third line we got 30 seconds. On the fourth line we got 20 seconds. It was fun!

Science Design Project

We will be starting our new design project for our Habitats and Communities unit.  If students are creating a diorama, they will need to bring in a shoebox.  We are getting lots of shoe boxes/small boxes in but are still short a few.  If you have any extras, we'd appreciate it if you could donate them to our class!

If you're habitat contains lots of trees, start collecting twigs and small branches you could use for your trees.  If you need rocks, or other items to create your landscape, don't forget those either.

The students and I are so excited to get this project underway.  I can't wait to see all the finished habitats!

This week at school we did ELA. In ELA we did reading groups. My group started a book called “Snowbored”. We also did some word work too.

This week we started some research on animals. I am researching zebras. Here is some information about zebras. Did you know that zebras like to hunt in packs so the predator gets confused?  

This week in other subjects.  We had a sub yesterday. We also went to the computer lab. Some people signed up for gymnastics club and it started this week.

I'm just checking out our total views, and we've almost reached 1000!  Woo hoo!  As we move forward, I'm going to pass the keyboard over to students more often.  This way they can add reviews of special activities, books they're reading or an event they'd like to share.

Dear mom and dad,

This week at school... In heath we did ways to fit in and we acted out a scene. In gym we played bench dodge ball and pin guard.

This week we also had French. In French we did the buzz game and we learned how to say where we live. We also worked on counting it was very fun.

We also did ELA. In ELA we did read to self and read to someone it was really fun. For read to someone I read with Ryan. And for read to self, in reading groups,  I read the book called, "How to keep cold and warm" it was interesting. 

We also did math. In math we did circle graph’s pictographs and mental math. They were all fun but hard too.

We also had science. In science we worked on food chains and also did food webs. And we also watched a video showing food chains. In other, we had hot lunch it was chicken fingers.  Abilities day was on Tuesday, we got to ride in a wheelchair to see what it’s like to be in a wheelchair.
